Cupping

About

Cupping therapy is a practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that promotes the flow of Qi (vital energy) and restores balance within the body. This technique involves creating suction with specially designed cups, which gently lift the skin and fascia to stimulate circulation and support the body’s natural healing processes. From alleviating muscular tension to addressing digestive discomfort.

Potential Benefits of Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy is widely recognized for its ability to address a range of health concerns, including:
- Musculoskeletal Pain: Effective for chronic back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, and muscular tension
- Respiratory Conditions: Supports recovery from coughs, asthma, and common colds.
- Digestive Disorders: Alleviates symptoms such as bloating, acid reflux, and constipation.
- Stress and Recovery: Facilitates relaxation, detoxification, and accelerated healing after physical strain.
- Inflammation: Helps manage localized and systemic inflammatory conditions.

Types of Cupping Therapy
1. Fire Cupping (火罐): Glass cups are briefly heated with a flame to create suction and then applied to the skin. This method is often used to target specific areas for deep therapeutic effects.

2. Stationary Cupping (留罐): Cups remain in place for approximately 5 minutes, delivering focused relief to localized areas.

3. Gliding Cupping (走罐): After applying oil to the skin, cups are gently moved along meridians, allowing for broader coverage and enhanced relaxation in areas such as the back and thighs.

What to expect

  1. Suction: Suction is created using heat, lifting the skin, fascia and muscles.

  2. Improved Circulation: This process increases blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues, promoting healing.

  3. Toxin Removal: Cupping helps remove metabolic waste, facilitating detoxification.

  4. Enhanced Recovery: Increased circulation delivers oxygen and nutrients to muscles, aiding faster recovery and repair.
